Education and Enrichment Programs

The Disability Action Center’s educational and enrichment programs are designed to empower individuals with disabilities and their families to become the best they can be physically, socially, emotionally, educationally, and financially. All DAC programs aim to improve the overall quality of life of participants by ensuring each member is engaged, included, and accepted in all areas of life; and to provide an environment where individuals can continue to learn and be productive members of the community through all stages of life. 

The Disability Action Center (DAC) offers a wide range of educational, training and enrichment programming for individuals with disabilities and their families. Programs are categorized into 8 Core Service Areas:

Career Readiness: To create, through a person-centered approach, a training and career readiness path so that each participant has the knowledge, skills, abilities, confidence, and support they need to obtain and retain meaningful, community integrated employment. Experience IT Co-Op: To bring the world of STEAM to individuals with special needs who have not had the opportunity to participate in programs such as robotics, rocketry, environmental education, project art, theatre, engineering, math and chemistry.  Learn more…link to the subpage.

Education and Training: To increase literacy and numeracy of participants, raise awareness and increase the use of assistive technology in daily living, and provide unique, integrated camp opportunities for individuals of all abilities. Learn more…link to the subpage.

Health & Wellness: To provide persons with special needs opportunities for a comprehensive health and wellness program addressing the need for awareness and understanding of health-related needs of persons with developmental disabilities and provide opportunities to learn the benefits of living a healthier lifestyle. Social and Recreational: To provide opportunities for spiritual, emotional, and social growth through creative and fun opportunities for the entire family. Learn more…link to the subpage.

Exercise and Fitness: To provide not only physical activity of individuals with disabilities which leads to improved health but also increased integration into community events and education of the public on inclusion and accessibility to sports, leisure, and recreation activities.
