Social Development

The DAC offers fun social and recreational activities for members. We host a variety of events including dances, camps, and arts and crafts. Our Social and Recreational activities provide the opportunity for families to connect with one another and learn from one another.

Bible Study: The DAC partners with LIFE United Methodist Church to offer a customized Bible Study twice monthly. The curriculum is tailored to the needs of our clients, and much attention is given to what they want to learn about spiritually. Additionally, mission and service projects are available in partnership with LIFE church and other local churches.

Friday Nights Out: Our members meet twice a month on Friday Evenings for a night out of fun and fellowship. We recognize each member who is having a birthday that month and do a variety of activities. Our “Friday Night Outs” include pizza parties, bingo, dances, Video Games, and Old-fashioned fun!

Community Service/Rotaract: Held once monthly, this program allows DAC members to give back to the community by volunteering and participating in combined programming with St. Barbara’s Nursing Home and other local organizations. New in 2025, the Community Service group expanded to a structured Rotaract Club in partnership with our local Rotary organizations.

Afternoon Arts: The Afternoon Arts program allows participants to explore their creative side and learn a variety of techniques and tools including watercolor, chalk, coloring, group designs, murals, and seasonal projects for the whole family.

Holiday Programs: The Disability Action Center family loves to get together and no better time than the Holidays. Fall Formals, Halloween Costumes Parties, Sweethearts Dances, are just a few of our Seasonal favorites.

Winter Bowling League: The DAC bowling league runs from January to March at the Fairmont Bowling Center. Members receive a discounted rate and a good time is had by all. An end of the season recognition banquet honors each bowler for their accomplishments.
